"Coffee Philosophy" Print

Ever since Phil Foisie, one of my best friends and musical partner with Cook, showed me Pretzel Logic in my sophomore year of college, I've been absolutely hooked on Steely Dan. Something about how they make their world seem as real as it is, gets me going. I love hearing about others misfortunes and failures because it makes me feel a lot better about myself. I think this is true of most people. That being said, this play on words piece of art tries to give you the feeling of what it's like to be out there on your own. Your own boss and your own self to take care of. Most of the time it's not the most flattering life but at least you can call it your own. That "little something", what you're doing is all for you, can really carry yourself onward when times get dark. To illustrate that, my elementary school best friend Saba Goodarzi helped with the addition of "1 Joe .... $1" because in a way he is really selling himself as much as the coffee may be all that he claims. I've always wanted to know what it's like to be this guy, the freedom of it. Though as I get older, I realize, I don't. I really don't. It's crazy how some dreams become a nightmare. We glamorize things that we don't understand only to realize they're actually not that pretty. But you know what? I think our friend here and his little stand are pretty cool. I hope he does too.
